Lesson 6 — Official WhatsApp Through a Meta-Approved Provider: Protect Your Number and Turn the Chat Into an Order

Straight answer: In Qatar a large share of store sales complete in WhatsApp, yet most merchants run this channel from a personal phone or the free Business app on one device. When demand grows, two problems appear: messages get lost between employees, and the account is exposed to closure because of bulk sending or unofficial tools. The fix is the WhatsApp Business API through a Meta-approved service provider, so the number is in your company's name in your own Meta Business account, verified, worked by a whole team, sending official templates, and connected to your store and customers. ThreeU provides this within Zajil.

What you will learn

  • The practical difference between regular WhatsApp, the Business app and the API.
  • The real reasons merchant accounts get closed and how to avoid them.
  • The verification steps and what Meta decides, not the provider.
  • Templates, the 24-hour window and the cost.
  • How a conversation becomes a registered order without manual copying.

First: three kinds of WhatsApp

| | Regular WhatsApp | WhatsApp Business app | WhatsApp Business API | |---|---|---|---| | Device | One phone | One phone (limited linked devices) | Any number of employees from the platform | | Business profile | No | Yes (catalogue, quick replies) | Yes, in the company's name and verified | | Template messages for orders and offers | No | Manual | Approved and automated | | Connection to store, customers and invoice | No | Limited | Full | | Cost | Free | Free | Meta fees for template messages + platform subscription | | Fit for a store | No | For a small start | When WhatsApp becomes a sales channel |

Second: why do merchant accounts get closed?

1. Bulk sending to numbers that never messaged you first, especially repeated offers. 2. Unofficial tools: modified versions of the app or software pumping messages through a regular number. 3. Reports: when a number of recipients tap "report" on messages they did not ask for. 4. A personal number suddenly turned into a store: a usage pattern that looks like spam. 5. Mismatched data: a trade name on the account that does not match a commercial registration. On the official API, messages go out as approved templates within clear rules and the account is verified in your company's name, so the risk of closure drops to a minimum; no provider can guarantee Meta's decisions, but it can keep you away from their causes.

Third: verification steps

1. Create a Meta Business account in your company's name and upload the commercial registration and matching details. 2. Complete business verification with Meta. 3. Connect the number to the API through the provider; the number stays yours in your account, not the provider's. 4. Set the display name to match your trade name. 5. After verification, apply for the badge; the decision is Meta's and no provider can guarantee it. Details, prices and the questions to ask before subscribing with any provider are in WhatsApp Business API in Qatar: pricing, verification and the badge.

Fourth: templates, the window and the cost

  • The window: when a customer messages you, you can reply freely for 24 hours. After that you need an approved template message.
  • Templates: order confirmation, shipping status, cart reminder, offers; each template is approved once and then sent automatically.
  • Three layers of cost: Meta's fee per template message by category (marketing costs more than utility), the platform subscription (on ThreeU within a subscription from QAR 449 per month), and your own effort on templates and the team.

Fifth: from conversation to order

A good conversation ends with a registered order, not a "done" in the chat. The employee opens the conversation, sees the customer's profile and previous address, creates the order from inside the conversation, the invoice is issued, and an official confirmation and delivery status go out as templates. The full workflow is in selling on WhatsApp in Qatar: turn chats into orders.

How the ThreeU system does it

Zajil in ThreeU puts your company's number on the WhatsApp Business API through ThreeU as a Meta-approved service provider, routes conversations to your team from one mobile app, links every conversation to the customer profile, the order and the invoice, sends confirmation and shipping templates automatically, and receives Instagram ad conversations with the click identifier so sales are measured (lesson 4). The Hudhud AI assistant answers repeated questions and summarises conversations for the manager (lesson 8).

Lesson exercise

Open your store's current WhatsApp and answer: is the number in the company's name in a Meta Business account? How many employees reply from it? Did your last offer go to numbers that never messaged you? Every negative answer is a risk you fix this week with the five verification steps.

FAQ

Do I lose my current number when I move to the API?

No; the same number is moved to the API after verification and stays in your Meta Business account. Old conversations on the phone are not migrated automatically, so keep a backup and rely on the customer profile in the system from then on.

Is the green badge guaranteed with an approved provider?

No. The provider puts you on the official API and helps with the application; the decision is Meta's according to its criteria.

How much do messages cost in Qatar?

Meta charges template messages by category and country and is paid directly, and replies inside the 24-hour window are part of the conversation. Current figures are on Meta's page, and any provider saying "free" means it adds nothing on top.
