The Real Cost of an Online Store in Qatar (2026): Seven Line Items with Published Numbers
*Last reviewed 14 October 2026. Every figure below is taken from a published price page or listing on that date, with sources at the end. Where a provider publishes no number we say so.*
The platform subscription is the price you see; it is rarely the price you pay. A Qatar merchant's real bill has seven lines, and three of them (payment fees, shipping and the systems you add later) usually exceed the subscription itself. This guide puts published numbers against each line and ends with a worked budget for a store selling QAR 20,000 a month.
The short answer
- Subscription: from $99/year (JoShop) and QAR 300/month (Fatora) to QAR 449/month for a full platform (ThreeU).
- Payment fees: about 2.5% of sales (SADAD 2.5% online with a QAR 2.5 minimum, Dibsy 2.5% + QAR 1), which is QAR 500 to 750 a month on QAR 20,000 of sales.
- Shipping: your own drivers, a delivery company per order, or delivery apps on commission.
- Content: photos and copy, in-house or outsourced.
- Marketing: ad budget and, often, an agency retainer.
- Complementary systems: POS, inventory, invoicing, WhatsApp, if the platform does not include them.
- Your time: reconciling tools that do not talk to each other.
The seven line items
1. The platform
| Option | Published price | |---|---| | ThreeU (store + POS + ERP + CRM + WhatsApp) | QAR 449 / 718 / 1,077 per month, 20% off annually, first month free for qualified merchants | | Fatora (store + invoices + payment links) | Free limited · QAR 300/month or QAR 1,500/year | | JoShop | $99/year | | Rofofk | From SAR 999/year | | Shopify, Wix, WooCommerce | Dollar subscriptions or hosting and plugins | Full comparison: best e-commerce platforms in Qatar.
2. Payment gateway fees
The percentage on every sale is the line merchants forget. Published Qatar examples: SADAD 2.5% online with a QAR 2.5 minimum and an online gateway from QAR 99/month; Dibsy 2.5% + QAR 1 per transaction with no monthly fee; Fatora's transaction fees are not published. On a QAR 80 average basket, the fixed QAR 1 at Dibsy and the QAR 2.5 minimum at SADAD matter more than the percentage. Full table and arithmetic: payment gateway fees in Qatar.
3. Shipping and delivery
Three routes with different cost shapes: your own drivers (fixed cost, full control), a delivery company (per-order fee), or delivery apps (a commission on every order, set by contract). The criteria are in connecting shipping to your store and the commission arithmetic in delivery apps vs your own store.
4. Photos and content
A phone and a light box cover most catalogues; see product photography with your phone. Outsourced shoots and copywriting are a one-off budget per launch.
5. Marketing
Instagram and Snapchat ads are the first channel for most Qatar stores; the budget is yours to set, but the discipline that matters is tracking which ad produced which order; see which ad brought this customer?. Agency retainers, where used, are a monthly line on top.
6. Complementary systems
A store-only platform leaves the shop's till, inventory, invoicing and WhatsApp to other tools, each with its own subscription and none sharing one stock. This is where "cheap" platforms become expensive. A platform that includes POS, inventory, invoices and WhatsApp removes the line entirely; see best POS systems in Qatar.
7. Your time
Moving numbers between tools, answering "where is my order?" without a record, and reconciling stock at month end. Hard to price, easy to feel.
A worked budget: QAR 20,000 a month, 250 orders
| Line | Store-only stack | One platform (ThreeU Basic) | |---|---|---| | Platform | QAR 300 (Fatora Professional) | QAR 449 | | Payment fees | About QAR 500 to 750 | About QAR 500 to 750 (same gateway) | | POS for the shop | Separate subscription (from QAR 299 at local vendors) | Included | | Inventory and invoices | Separate tool or spreadsheet | Included | | WhatsApp CRM | Separate tool (from $39/month) | Included | | Shipping and marketing | Same in both | Same in both | The subscription difference is QAR 149; the systems difference is three subscriptions and the hours between them. Numbers are published prices as of October 2026, not quotes.
Mistakes that double the bill
- Comparing subscriptions and ignoring payment fees.
- A foreign platform without NAPS support, then a third-party payment app on top.
- A store with no POS for the shop, so stock drifts.
- Skipping the e-commerce licence, then losing weeks at gateway activation; see e-commerce licence in Qatar.
- Paying an agency to run ads with no order-source tracking.
